William "Pops" Rodick Jr., age 68, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on August 18, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the beloved son of Mary (Gowen) Rodick and the late William Rodick, and the devoted husband of Gina (Dillon) Rodick.
Bill spent 50 years in the baking industry, working tirelessly for Schmidt Baking Company and H&S Bakery in Baltimore, primarily on night shifts. His dedication extended beyond the bakery as he ran his own lawn care service for nearly 30 years to support his large and loving family.
An avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, Bill enjoyed watching football games in the "Men’s Room" with his sons and their friends, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air. He was known for his vibrant personality. He was the announcer for the Bel Air Redskins when his sons played rec football. He brought humor to the game by creating unique and amusing nicknames for each player.
Bill was passionate about fitness and never missed a day at the gym, even on holidays. He loved sharing his workout routines with his family and other people at the gym, whether they wanted it or not. He was often seen sporting a muscle tank if he was wearing a shirt at all.
In recent years, Bill found faith in God and delighted in spreading positivity and hope to those around him. His life was a testament to hard work and selflessness, as he tirelessly provided for his family, ensuring they always had what they needed. Holidays were particularly special to him; he made sure Christmas was filled with joy and an abundance of gifts for his children. He treasured Thanksgiving dinners surrounded by loved ones.
Bill had a unique ability to bring laughter, even during the most inappropriate times. He was a character, always ready with a joke or a funny song, and his humor made a lasting impact on everyone he met. He loved music, whistling tunes, and creating parody songs that brought smiles to many. Creating comical nicknames for people was one of his many skill sets and a testament to his playful nature and the deep connections he made with others.
Above all, Bill was incredibly proud of his family. He was a one-of-a-kind individual who left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his wife and mother, Bill is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (AJ) Italiano, Ranae "Bean" (Kevin) Burnett, Rachel Rodick, sons, William John (Jessica) Rodick III, Brandon (Carrie) Rodick, grandchildren, Drew, Taylor, Cameron, Liv, Jaxson, Bailey, River, Max, Quinn, Penny, Willow and Piper; sisters, Carole and Debbie; brothers, Jimmy and Mike.
