Obituary

William “Bill” C. Pickett, D.C., 82, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Baltimore on March 24, 1943, Bill was the son of the late Leonard Charles and Alice Thompson Pickett.

Doctor Pickett is survived by his loving wife of nearly sixty years, Katherine “Kitty” Endslow Pickett, sons Gregory Charles Pickett and Geoffrey Joseph Pickett and wife Diane Volpe Pickett, grandchildren Evan A. Pickett and Allie M. Pickett, and sister Sara Pickett Henry. He is lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews.

A Harford County native, Bill graduated from Bel Air High School, Class of 1961 where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. He played on the 1959 undefeated football team of Al Cesky. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1965 where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Upon graduation he taught history at North Harford High School and Bel Air High School. Drafted in 1968 into the US Army, he attended Officer Candidate School and served in the United States Army at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Doctor Pickett graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1974. Upon graduation he worked with Maryland Senator William S. James establishing legislation and successfully changing the law in Maryland regarding the licensure of chiropractors. Under the new law, graduates from all certified chiropractic colleges, including previously denied applicants, were now allowed to apply for licensure in Maryland. Doctor Pickett enjoyed thirty-nine years as a chiropractor in Bel Air listing his patients as his many friends.

His life revolved around his love of family, friends, and sports with the love of sports guiding his community activities. Never having played soccer, he volunteered as a coach and commissioner of the Bel Air Boys Soccer program. He shared his humor, laughter, and everlasting smile with the love of his family and friends.
