William “Bill” Thomas Nehila, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on December 7, 2025. Born in Phillipsburg, NJ on June 18, 1933, he was the son of John F. Nehila and Victoria (Zeeman) Nehila. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1950 and then served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955, during the Korean War.
“Bill” was married to Josephine (Amore) Nehila, who predeceased him in 2011. Bill was an avid sports fan and loved the Boston Red Sox. He was very active in sports in high school. After serving in the US Navy, he enjoyed playing baseball and softball. He won numerous gold medals in the Senior Olympics in Maryland and Florida in track and field events, softball, and swimming events. He was also a member of senior softball teams that won gold and silver medals in Maryland and Florida softball tournaments.
Bill is survived by his brother Joseph and his sons William “Bill” Nehila, Jr. and wife Deanie; Jeff Nehila and wife Lisa; David Nehila and wife Jennifer. He is also survived by grandchildren Michael, Leah, Zachary, Jana, and Madeline and great-grandchildren Kendal, Sophia, and Brody. He is predeceased by brothers Francis Nehila, John “Jack” Nehila, Jr., sisters Margaret Snyder, Mary Miller and grandson Daniel Nehila.
