William Earl McCurdy, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Maryland, he was the beloved son of Earl Godwin and Rita Veronica McCurdy.
Both a graduate of the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and the University of Baltimore, Bill also proudly served his country as a member of both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
He built a fulfilling career in the construction industry and later retired as a project manager with Whitman, Requardt & Associates. He enjoyed working on the Baltimore Subway, the Fort McHenry Tunnel, and many other projects.
He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Barbara Anne McCurdy and his three loving children. Daughters Deborah Rager and her husband Patrick, Suzanne Garci, two adoring granddaughter’s- Taylor Rager and Tenley Garci, Son- Jeremy McCurdy and his wife and four additional grandchildren.
He was a member of the Cape Henlopen Elks, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign War.
Bill’s idea of a good day was spent kayaking, skiing, or biking. He will best be remembered for his love of dancing to any old-time rock and roll song. A skilled handyman, a hammer and nail were never far from his grip. Lewes, DE was his mancave. A day at the beach and many restaurants provided him with a great measure of happiness. He especially loved being around the Cape May Lewes Ferry area and time spent with the friends of Heron Bay.
Family and friends will be gathering to celebrate Bill’s life at McComas Funeral Home in Bel Air on July 31st from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Micheal J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease
