William C. Maans, Jr.

William Carl Maans, Jr., age 74, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Havre de Grace, Maryland. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland.

William was the beloved son of the late William Carl Maans, Sr. and the late Patricia Alma (Streb) Maans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Maans.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia L. (Schoppert) Maans; his loving daughter, Jennifer Gainer; and his cherished grandchildren, Adam Iglehart and Noah Gainer. He is also survived by his siblings: Patricia Weiskopf and Mary Hannigan (sisters), and Stephen Maans, Timothy Maans, and Gregory Maans (brothers).

William was a proud veteran. He was a longtime and faithful member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where he was active for more than 30 years. During that time, he participated in the men’s Bible study, Vacation Bible School, and various outreach charities, giving generously of his time and spirit.

Bill was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed watching Jeopardy. He loved many kinds of music and had an extensive record collection. Known for his good sense of humor, he loved to laugh and brought warmth and joy to those around him. Raised in a big, loving family, Bill carried those values throughout his life and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered as a kindhearted man who deeply loved his family, church, and community.
