William Davis Hooper, Jr., age 86, of Fallston, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Born in Baltimore, Maryland he was the son of the late William Davis Hooper, Sr. and Ruth Virginia (Strong) Moore. He was the beloved husband of over 50 years the late Mary Louise Hooper (Walter).
William attended the University of Maryland and the University of Baltimore where he received his Juris Doctor. William began his legal career with the firm of Monfred & Lentz, which quickly became Monfred, Lentz & Hooper and ended his career with the firm Hooper & Jacobs. He practiced law in Bel Air, Maryland for over 50 years, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. During his years as an attorney he also served as County Attorney for Harford County from 1973-1976. After retiring from private practice, he became the General Council for the Grand Lodge of Maryland in Hunt Valley until finally retiring again at age 85.
William was a 39- year member of the Masonic fraternity. He was a member of Belvedere DeMolay, past Master Counselor, member of Tuscan Lodge #202, past Worshipful Master, 1990, 1994, 2007, member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #116, member of Scottish Rite Valley of Baltimore, 33degree Mason, member of York Rite, member of Boumi Shrine and Knights of Mecca and member of the Royal Order of Jesters, 82 Baltimore Court, past Director. In the Grand Lodge of Maryland, he served as Right Worshipful Junior Grand Warden and Grand Marshall and was awarded the Warren S. Seipp award in 2010.
Outside of his professional life, William enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, duck hunting, taking trips to Home Depot and was an avid reader—especially historical work. His favorite place to travel was to his beloved second home in Ocean City, Maryland. He loved sitting on the balcony hearing the ocean and watching his children and grandchildren on the beach.
He is survived by his son, Bryan Hooper (Francee), Taylor Schilling (Austin), great-grand daughter Wrenlee and Madison; daughter, Kimberly Hilliard (Michael), Chase, Summer and Brayden, and daughter Melissa Haigley (Kerry), Sam and Mitchell. He is also survived by his two brothers, Mark Hooper and Wayne Hooper (Patricia).
