WILLIAM “BILL” H. BURKHOUSE, SR., age 73, of Bel Air, died at his home on March 28, 2004. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Arthur John and Anna Helena Sprole Burkhouse. He had retired after 28 years of service with Food Fair Stores, Inc. which later became Pantry Pride in the Maryland/D.C. area. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Ignatius and a life member of the American Legion Post 39 in Bel Air. He volunteered at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for almost 5 years. He was an active usher and member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Forest Hill. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Burkhouse is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ethel M. Wilson Burkhouse; two sons, William H. Burkhouse, Jr. and his wife, Marcia Talley of Airville, PA; John R. Burkhouse of Bel Air; one daughter, Lynn A. Way and her husband, David of Graniteville, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Jennifer Burkhouse of Oklahoma City, OK; John R. Burkhouse of Oklahoma City, OK; Amber Marie Way of Graniteville, South Carolina; Megan Ann Way of Graniteville, South Carolina; and Colleen L. Burkhouse of Bel Air.
Pallbearers will be three members of Knights of Columbus and three members of the American Legion Post 39.
