William Edward “Ed” Brady, age 82, of Bel Air, Maryland, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Ed was the son of the late Wells Lindquist Brady and Helen (Bennett) Olsen. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician based at NAS Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, and on the USS Mitscher (DL-2), and carried that sense of dedication and service throughout his life. He was a communications engineer for Sun Oil for over two decades.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Ann (Esterling) Brady; his daughter, Susan Brady Lawless (Christopher) of Contoocook, New Hampshire; and his sons, Michael Brady (Heidi) of Bel Air, Maryland; and Kevin Brady (Katherine) of Peachtree City, Georgia. The joy of his life was his nine cherished grandchildren: Catie Brady, Colin Lawless, Anna Brady, Ben Brady, Ethan Brady, Riley Lawless, Gavin Lawless, Ryan Brady, and Stella Brady. He is also survived by his siblings: Kay Goldberg (Bill) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Louise Stewart (Rob) of Stansbury Park, Utah; Annette Fugal (Jens) of Marysville, Tennessee; Jean Arnott (Ron) of Mentone, California; Arthur Brady (Michele) of Tooele, Utah; Carol Dupuis (Vic) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Evelyn Hawley (Jeff), also of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Luther Brady (Francine) of San Bernardino, California. Ed considered himself blessed beyond measure that from his youngest years through adulthood, his life was full of the love and guidance of three extraordinary women: his mother, Helen; as well as Erma Bennett and Maxine (Heaton) Brady. Although they, too, predeceased him, their lessons, care, and examples of selfless service stayed with him every day of his life.
In his retirement, Ed dedicated much of his time to the restoration of the historic Aberdeen B&O Train Station. To his delight, he was able to celebrate the completion of the station’s exterior renovation this year. Ed, along with Mary Ann, served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints in Regina, Canada, where they dedicated their efforts to the people of the First Nations. He served many roles in the church but enjoyed teaching children’s Sunday School and coordinating chapel maintenance the most.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to:
