William “Bill” Patrick Keane, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late William Patrick Keane, Sr and Elizabeth Agnes (Connell) Keane.
Bill was the beloved husband of the late Virginia Edith (Fraser) Keane who passed in 2021. He is survived by his loving children, Colleen M. Wodell, William P. Keane, III, Christopher T. Keane, Thomas F. Keane and Kevin M. Keane, his children’s spouses and eleven grandchildren.
After graduating from Newark College of Engineering, Bill worked for Union Carbide (Newark, NJ) developing welding techniques for industrial pipe. He then left the workforce to enroll in Princeton University, where he earned a Masters in Aerospace Engineering before beginning a four-decade career at Fort Monmouth (Eatontown, NJ). While working at the historic Army Communications and Electronics Headquarters, he developed avionics equipment for helicopters.
Throughout his life, Bill found the most joy in spending time with his family and practicing his faith, but also had many other interests. He enjoyed collecting model trains, playing the guitar, days at the beach (especially LBI), and running. Bill was an avid runner and completed several marathons, including the NYC marathon and many Jersey shore races.
In 2008, Bill retired as an Electrical Engineer from Fort Monmouth. During retirement, he pursued his passion for Bible study and music. He was an active member of Calvary Chapel Old Bridge, where he played Christian songs for the children’s service. In 2016, he and his wife relocated to Maryland near two of their sons, William and Thomas.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with service to follow at 11:00 am at Crossroads Community Church, 2810 Twelve Stones Road, Bel Air, Maryland, 21015.
