Wayne Patrick Collins, age 65, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Wayne was the beloved son of the late Tom and Ruth Collins. He was the devoted husband of Susan Coates, with whom he shared a loving life centered around family and friends.
Wayne was a hardworking, devoted family man whose greatest joy was spending time with those he loved. His grandchildren were his world, and he took great pride in being an active and loving presence in their lives. He especially enjoyed taking them to church and being there for their activities and milestones. Wayne's love, generosity, and unwavering support for his family will be remembered always.
Wayne attended Cranberry United Methodist Church for more than 10 years, where his faith was an important part of his life. He was also a loyal friend to many and will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and willingness to help others.
Wayne had a passion for gardening, particularly growing fruit trees and roses. He was an avid woodworker who enjoyed building, repairing, and fixing things. A hardworking man with a wonderful sense of humor, Wayne loved to joke around, even when his antics sometimes embarrassed those around him.
He had a generous spirit and a way of spoiling those he loved, bringing laughter and warmth to the lives of his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Collins; his sister, Mary Simson; and his brother-in-law, Paul McCord.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Coates; his son, Timothy Collins and his wife, Sara; His stepsons Michael, Chris, and Steven Flake; his cherished grandchildren, Ryan Collins, Mallory Collins, and Emma Collins; his brother, Victor Wendt and his wife, Cindy; and his sister, Cindy McCord. He also leaves behind many dear extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
