Viola Kate Casey, age 89, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025. Born in Greendale, Virginia, she was one of ten children of the late Clifford and Lula (Tolliver) Cuddy.
Viola had a lifelong love of family, home, and faith. She was a devoted homemaker, known for her warm hospitality and the comforting meals she lovingly prepared—especially her famous gravy and biscuits, green beans and banana pudding. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing, and she poured her creativity into every stitch. Sundays were always reserved for church, and holidays were treasured family gatherings filled with laughter, love, and home-cooked meals.
She was the beloved wife of Jennings Casey, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage.
Viola is survived by her husband, Jennings Casey; her daughter, Yvonne Sue (Richard) Jones; her son, Eddie (Ronni) Casey; her grandchildren, Shannon Deys, Shane (Charlene) Casey, and Zachary Casey; her great-grandchildren, Jacob Deys, Meghan Deys, Carter Lanham, Makayla Casey, and Ella Casey; and her great-great-granddaughter, Lainey Deys. She is also survived by her siblings, Ruby Watkins, Mary Parris, Glenda Winebarger, Diane Castle, and Bobby Cuddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Lula Cuddy, and her siblings, Ernest (Peck) Cuddy, Clifford (Pete) Cuddy, Danny Cuddy and Edna Marie Cuddy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to theAlzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Viola will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—devoted to her family and the simple joys of home. She will be deeply missed and forever treasured in the hearts of those who loved her.
