Thomas Luke Miller

May 31, 1985 — November 21, 2024

It is with profound sadness, yet with hope in our hearts, that we announce the passing of Thomas Luke Miller, who departed peacefully at home, surrounded by his beloved family. While we grieve his absence, we also rejoice in the knowledge that Tom has entered the Kingdom of God, where he is now fully healed and at peace.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Charmaine Miller, and their cherished children, Ellie Marie and Calvin Claude. Also left to honor his memory are his devoted parents, Dr. Dennis Miller and Mrs. Jo Miller, and his dear brothers: Dr. Dennis Miller Jr. and fiancée, Laura, with their children, Ashley and Colton; Christian Miller and wife, Olya, with their son, Sasha; Dr. Peter Miller and wife, Molly, with their children, Phillip and Samuel; and Joey Miller and wife, Danielle, with their children, Alora and Logan. Tom also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom he considered family.

From his early years, Tom was known for his unique humor, storytelling, and unwavering dedication to family and friends. He was a man of deep faith and cherished qualities that marked his journey as a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend. His faith grew profoundly throughout his battle with cancer, bringing inspiration to those around him and demonstrating the beauty of resilience and faith in the face of adversity.

Tom was a proud member of Long Green Baptist Church, where he was committed to fostering his faith through regular Bible studies and was an enthusiastic volunteer for Vacation Bible School (VBS). Never shy about sharing his appreciation for the church that supported him and his family in numerous ways throughout this journey, Tom often encouraged others to experience the warmth and support he found there and through faith.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Tom’s passions included not only soccer, which he played and coached for years, but also baseball. He embraced a unique quest with his brothers and friends to visit almost every Major League Baseball stadium in the United States, leaving only six stadiums remaining on his list. Tom was an avid fan of Manchester United, traveled to England many times to see them play, and contributed to soccer podcasts and articles. As a coach to his children Ellie and Calvin, he inspired countless young players, earning admiration from both children and parents for his dedication and strategic coaching style. Tom was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, having grown up watching games with family and friends.

Tom graduated high school from Baltimore Lutheran, (now Concordia Preparatory school). There, he became the student body President and excelled in soccer being a high scorer and leading the team to a championship in 2001. From there, Tom attended Goucher college, majoring in psychology and creative writing before attending the Boston School of Architecture, where he pursued a master’s degree in architecture. It was here that he gained insight into his strengths and weaknesses, ultimately applying his diverse talents in the field of project management.

His life journey took him across the globe and to every U.S. state except Alabama, fulfilling dreams with his loved ones by his side. His travels included Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, England, Italy, Spain Finland, and Israel where he and Charmaine reaffirmed their faith through baptism in the Jordan River and renewed their vows in Cana.

Tom's most treasured titles were husband and father. As a father, Tom’s greatest joy was spending time with his children, creating cherished memories, and making sure he taught them important lessons for them to hold close forever. As a husband, he shared an enduring love with Charmaine, whom he considered his best friend and life partner. Every decision he made was with the best interest of his family in mind and the impact he had on them will remain with them forever.

Tom’s battle with cancer gave him precious time to focus on the things that truly mattered, deepening his faith and commitment to family. His journey touched countless lives, strengthening bonds and inspiring faith in those around him. His friends and healthcare team, who walked closely with him every step of the way, were a testament to the profound impact he made on all who knew him.

Tom’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and faith, and his influence will live on in his family and friends. In gratitude, we remember Tom’s warmth, humor, and the joy he brought to our lives.

The family would like to take a moment to thank all of those involved in the care of Tom throughout his cancer journey. Especially, Albert Aboulafia MD, MBA, Alycia Vanhorn, P.A., the CyberKnife and Radiation teams, nursing and support staff, Dr. Mathew Hansen, MD, Dr. Christian Meyer MD, his PT Becca Schumer and Gilchrist Hospice.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

All who knew and loved him are welcome to join in remembering and celebrating his wonderful life.  There will be a reception meal held at Concordia Preparatory School (located 1145 Concordia Drive, Towson, MD 21286) following his burial.
