Theresa Mary Cassant

January 8, 1944 — February 22, 2022

Theresa M Cassant “Terry”, age 78, of Edgewood, Maryland, passed away on February 22, 2022 peacefully in her home. Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wasnesky and Florence Monroe, an officer in the Army and a homemaker. She lived her adolescent years in upstate NY, graduating from Queensbury High school, married her high school sweetheart then moved with her husband to Baltimore, MD. She graduated in 1995 from Towson University with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, accepting a counseling position at Sheppard Pratt Hospital. Terry was immersed in the Catholic community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She joined many church activities, sang in the choir, selflessly volunteered her time as well as taught CCD classes at her congregation, St. Joseph’s Parish in Perry Hall, MD. In addition, one of her favorite places to volunteer was at the soup kitchen with her children, feeding those less fortunate and giving back to the community. During her children’s younger years, not only did she work and go to school full-time, but she was also in a bowling and volleyball league, played piano and enjoyed taking her daughters country line dancing on the weekends.

Terry was truly an altruistic and devoted mother/mom mom. In her free time, she could be found with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson whom she loved fiercely. Her hobbies included drawing and painting beautiful works of art, puzzles, reading, knitting, crocheting, gardening, camping and fishing with her family. She was incredibly intelligent, tenacious and had such a big heart, being the type of person who always thought of others before she thought of herself.

Terry is survived by her son, John B. Cassant II and her daughters, Michelle J. Amos, Stephanie L. Cassant, Kristen M. Rossi; grandchildren, Charlene, Timothy, Hannah Cassant, Savannah Schmelz and Bryson Rossi; great-grandchild, Kaysen Cassant; sisters, Thomasina E. Wasnesky, Michele L. Garlits-Sterling and brother, Michael E. Bartlett.

In addition to her parents, Terry was preceded in death by her ex-husband, John B. Cassant Sr.
