Obituary

Theresa Becker, age 89, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Bernard Stanislaus Fryza and the late Marie Agnes (Augustyniak) Fryza.

Theresa shared 58 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Paul E. Becker, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Paul F. Becker; her parents, Bernard Stanislaus Fryza and Marie Agnes Fryza; her sister, Dorothy Huber; and her brothers, John Fryza and Bernard Fryza.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Theresa's greatest joy was spending time with her family. During her years raising her family she enjoyed making memories at the family shore home. She also especially loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

An active and energetic woman throughout her life, Theresa played softball in her younger years until the age of 40 and remained an avid bowler for most of her adult life. She became a member of her local senior center in 2017, participating in line dancing, Zumba, and other activities. She also found her passion for pickleball, embracing every opportunity to stay active and socialize.

Theresa also enjoyed trips to the casino and treasured vacations in Ocean City, Maryland, where she loved strolling along the boardwalk and visiting Jolly Roger Water Park. She found comfort each evening listening to old-time radio programs before bed, enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, and faithfully served as the treasurer of her condominium association.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Barbara (Bill) Hempel and Debra (Jeffrey) Mullins; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Becker; her grandchildren, Jillian Off (née Becker), Bryan Becker, Brittany Bowen (née Hempel), Madison Hempel, and Caylie Coldiron (née Hempel); and her cherished great-grandchildren, Quinn Marie Coldiron, August James Coldiron, and Ella Rene’ Off.

Theresa will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her devotion to her family, her active lifestyle, and the kindness and warmth she shared with everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
