Theodore J. “Ted” Strong, age 98, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026, in Bel Air, Maryland.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Ted was the beloved son of the late Newton George Strong and the late Dorothy Eva (Theodore) Strong.
Ted proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he devoted most of his working life to building maintenance. Throughout his career, he worked for organizations including the Hearing and Speech Agency in Baltimore and the Hecht Company.
Ted was a man of many talents and interests, particularly during his retirement years. He enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, wood carving, stained glass, quilling, and basket weaving. In his 60s, he fulfilled an adventurous dream when he learned how to fly small airplanes, adding aviation to the many interests he enjoyed throughout his life.
Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gertrude Theresa (Stasiak) Strong; his parents, Newton George Strong and Dorothy Eva (Theodore) Strong; his brother, Newton Strong; and his sister, Esther Peeples.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Marlene Strong and Theresa (Tim) McLaughlin; his grandchildren, Jack (Angie) McLaughlin, David McLaughlin, Linda Barry, and Krystle (Jack) Nagle; his great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Zachary, Lily, James, and Bennett; and his sister-in-law Ann Campbell, who along with her husband Joe (deceased) and daughter Michelle gave tremendous support to Ted in the 24 years since the passing of his wife Gertrude. There are also many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
