Theodore Roosevelt Adams, Jr. was born on July 1, 1952, in Fresno, California, to the late Theodore Roosevelt “Ted” Adams, Sr. and Catherine Hilda Adams. Ted was a resident of Aberdeen Md.

Ted, or Teddy as he was known, was the second of six sons born to this union. He departed this life on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Bel Air, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Sr.; his oldest brother, Carroll Eugene “Gene”; his brothers, Glenn H. and Anthony “Tony” A.; his sister-in-law, Dawn; and his nephew-in-law, CJ Verstraete.

Living in Harford County, Maryland, Teddy spent his early years growing up in Edgewood Heights, where he participated in many activities with his brothers, including football, baseball, and the Boy Scouts. Many of these activities were coached or led by his father. Among these activities was fishing, which became a lifelong passion for him. After the family moved to Perrywood in the late 1960s, Ted attended and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1970.

While at Aberdeen, he played trombone in the marching band and served as the band’s Drum Major during his senior year. Standing 6’6” tall, he also played basketball for the Eagles. After graduation, Ted attended Morgan State College and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah. He spent many years working in the banking industry in San Francisco, Atlanta, and Baltimore. After retirement, he continued working as a private consultant.

A man of Christian faith, Ted attended Greater Grace World Outreach Church in Baltimore. Through his faith, dedication, and service, he was able to fellowship with his Christian brethren all over the world.

Ted was a very accomplished musician, having learned to play the trombone and trumpet during his secondary school years. He eventually taught himself to play the piano and was the proud owner of a white baby grand piano. He went on to write several unpublished songs, including “Burgundy Wine,” a beautifully written jazz ballad featuring a female vocalist.

Ted was introduced to fishing by his father at an early age, and you could often find him on the banks of the Bush River or the Susquehanna River, trying to catch one more trout. He would fillet and freeze as many rockfish as his freezer could hold. Among his prize catches was a trophy blue marlin from a deep-sea fishing excursion.

Although he never married or had any children of his own, Ted enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews. He shared his love of fishing with several of his nephews, taking them with him on some of his fishing trips.

Ted spent his adult years residing in Salt Lake City, Utah; San Francisco, California; Atlanta, Georgia; and Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania. He also shared a home with his father in Hyattsville, Maryland, and spent his final years in Harford County, Maryland.

Ted is survived by his mother, Catherine; his brothers, John Wesley (Carole) and Kevin G. (Christie-Jo); his sisters-in-law, Sarah and Raymonda; his nieces and nephews, Tera Michelle, Eugene II, Ren’ia, Nicholas, Betty, Sylvia, Justin, Jessica, Wesley, Tia, Elise, Jeryl, Trayonna, Coniah, Amber, Lance, Brock, and Taylor; his aunts, Cora Adams, Doris Buck (George), Charlotte Jones, and Jennie Stephens; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and his dedicated friends, Dennis Dorsey and David and Valerie Thompson. Ted also leaves behind a host of cousins, relatives, and family friends to cherish his memory.
