Sue Ann Bogdan peacefully left this earth for the afterlife on February 7, 2026, leaving her husband of 61 years Edward Albert Bogdan, Sr. (Clarksburg, WV), her two sons, Edward, Jr. and Kenneth, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; all of whom adored her.
In 1946, Sue was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Virginia Muller Collins. She was raised for the first part of her life in Nashville, Tennessee, and moved to Baltimore, Maryland as a young child with her mother, grandfather and cousin (Mildred Lomax) where she attended Patterson High School. Her formative years were spent in the Highlandtown area where she was an honor student, choir member and editor of the school newspaper.
Initially, Sue’s work life began as an insurance actuary and then a teacher’s aide at Eastwood Elementary School. After staying home to raise her children, Sue began an accounting career which spanned nearly 45 years with Pantry Pride, JCPenney, Hyatt Regency and the Hilton hotels in Baltimore; where she worked on the grand opening of both hotels.
Sue was ambitious and smart which helped her rise through the ranks from an entry level general cashier to the Chief Accountant of the Hilton Hotel in Baltimore when she retired. Beyond mere ambition, Sue was admired by her co-workers and received many awards for exemplary service and other achievements. Sue had an amazing quality to make everyone feel like family and put those around her at ease and comfort.
Her surviving family includes her husband Edward, Sr., their two sons Eddie and Ken, six grandchildren, namely: (Eddie’s children) Anthony DiPietro (wife Sarah), Gavin and Brooke; and (Ken’s children with his wife Kimberly) Andrew, Joshua, and Jacob. Additionally, Sue was blessed to have three great grandchildren by Anthony and Sarah, namely: Teresa, Cecelia, and Thomas.
Enjoyable family vacations were spent by Sue traveling throughout Tennessee visiting relatives, as well as many trips to East Coast beaches from Maine to Florida. She was gifted a surprise trip to Hawaii for her 25th anniversary by her sons.
In addition to enjoying gardening, Sue loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends at her home doing many group activities. The whole family, her neighbors and their kids would cook meals, throw parties, bake cookies, and she especially loved to serve a “big breakfast” to as many as could fit around the tables.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in her name and honor to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Maryland, 502 Washington Ave, Ste. 300, Towson, MD 21204.
