Stephen Louis Arreguin, age 73, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Stephen was the beloved son of the late Louis Montanez Arreguin and Bessie Meda (McCord) Arreguin.
Stephen was the devoted husband of Karen Margaret (Keller) Arreguin, with whom he shared 47½ wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a loving family and created countless cherished memories.
Known affectionately as “Poppy,” Stephen's greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren, who were truly the center of his world. He treasured every moment spent with them and took great pride in watching them grow.
Stephen loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed grilling, fishing, watching AMC black-and-white movies, and listening to Jimmy Buffett. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball in local leagues with his work friends and neighbors. One of his favorite family traditions was steaming crabs and teaching the younger generations to respect and appreciate the live crabs before preparing them. His warmth, humor, and love for family gatherings will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A proud veteran, Stephen served his country honorably.
In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Michele Meisel and his dachshunds Oscar Meyer and Felix Esteban.
He is survived by his daughter, Alison Staiger and her husband, Jason; and his cherished grandchildren, Madyson Staiger and Brodie Staiger. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Arreguin and her husband, Steve; his brothers-in-law, Don Keller and his wife, Lynn, and Dave Keller and his wife, Jen; and his brother-in-law, Tom Meisel; his golden retriever Aurora Borealis, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stephen's memory to the Humane Society of Harford County or the Alzheimer's Association.
