Stanley Shoop Lentz, age 89, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on January 7, 2014 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Hummelstown, PA, he was the son of the late Ira Fasnacht and Naomi Elizabeth Shoop Lentz. During WWII he served in the Army Air Force. He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground where he worked as a Chief of weapons system in Ballistics Research Laboratory. A graduate of Gettysburg College, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and did graduate work at Johns Hopkins and the University of Delaware. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the sanctuary choir for 53 years and was a past member of the church council. He was also a member of Maryland Golf and Country Club where he served on the Board of Governors. He enjoyed playing tennis and Bridge, golfing, traveling, gardening and music.
Mr. Lentz is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Binkie" Claiborne Motley Lentz; godson, Stephen Potter of Relay, MD; and nieces and nephews in California, Alaska, Texas and Virginia.
