Obituary

Shirley Ann Leiser, age 80, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Born in Bluefield, West Virginia, Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late Edward Kelly Hagy and Margie Ann (Mathews) Hagy.

Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Gordon Leiser; her son, Michael DiBuono, and 8 beloved siblings.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Leona Bunnell and Cindy Morrill; and her cherished grandchildren, Amanda Walker, Joshua Kline, Jessica Culver, Jeremiah Walker, Arron Walker, Justin Fayette, and Julie Hutchinson. She also leaves behind many beloved great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

Affectionately known to everyone as “Granny,” Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife who welcomed all with open arms. She had a remarkable way of taking people under her wing, and her home was always open to anyone in need. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity touched countless lives.

Shirley’s family was her world—her greatest pride and joy. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and treasured every moment spent surrounded by them. She built a beautiful, large family grounded in love, and being together with them brought her the greatest happiness.

She will be fondly remembered for her amazing laugh and wonderful sense of humor. Shirley loved to cook, took pride in keeping a warm and welcoming home, and found joy in reading, always keeping a book close by. Her faith was an important part of her life—she loved the Lord and read her Bible often. One of her favorite songs was “There Was Jesus” by Dolly Parton and Zach Williams, which her granddaughter would often play for her.

Shirley Ann Leiser’s legacy of love, kindness, and family will live on in all who knew and loved her.
