Shirley Anne Kries, age 90, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Jacob Long and the late Margaret Katherine (Brooks) Long.

Shirley was the devoted wife of the late George Robert Kries, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Amy Gallion.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberley Kries, and Sharon Kries; grandchildren, Sarah (Brock) Armour and Hannah Kries; great-grandchildren, Jackson Armour, Elizabeth Armour, and Reese Armour; and her sister, Joan Coleman. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley had a creative and entrepreneurial spirit. She owned a business called Mommy’s Memories and enjoyed sharing her treasures including jewelry and antiques through booths at This and That and the Seneca Cannery in Havre de Grace. She also enjoyed playing slots for fun at Hollywood Casino with her good friend, Betty. Shirley was also a life-long member of the Girl's Club, meeting since their high school days at Eastern High School, enjoying many activities, reunions and lunches with "the girls".

A devoted sports fan, she loved watching the Baltimore Orioles, the Olympic games and NFL football.
