Sheila Sauer

Sheila Shine Sauer, 83, of Joppa, Maryland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026. Born on May 26, 1943, in Willimantic, Connecticut, to Gerald and Charlotte Shine, Sheila was the youngest of five siblings. Her bucolic New England upbringing gave her a lifetime of stories, memories, and humor that she shared generously with family and friends.

After moving to Maryland in her twenties, Sheila built a successful and varied career, working as a corrections officer, retail manager, and in the car dealership industry. In retirement, she devoted herself to service, volunteering more than 1,000 hours at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. She especially cherished her time in the infusion center, where she brought comfort, kindness, and smiles to patients during their most difficult days.

Sheila was also a gifted and meticulous crafter, spending hundreds of hours creating Diamond Art pieces for friends and family. Her home, and the homes of those she loved, are filled with the beauty she made by hand. Sheila welcomed everyone with warmth, generosity, and an open heart — a quality that defined her throughout her life.

Sheila is predeceased by her husband, Gerard “Jerry” Sauer, and her son, David William Allanach. She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Wildberger; her stepson, Todd Sauer; her granddaughter, Lily Wildberger; grandson Christopher (Kimberly) Wildberger; and her great grandson, Colin Wildberger. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom she loved as her own.

The family will gather privately to honor her memory.
