Sharon Ann Bellmyer

September 22, 1955 — October 12, 2025

Abingdon

Sharon Ann Bellmyer, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025. She was born in Rosedale, Maryland, to the late Charles Roop Sr. and Alva (Huber) Roop. She spent her childhood in her parents’ home in White Marsh exploring and playing with her siblings and friends.

Sharon was the beloved wife of Glenn E. Bellmyer, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage. Their love story began when Sharon, ever the adventurous spirit, took the initiative to ask Glenn on their first date. After three years of dating, they married and built a beautiful life together, full of love, laughter, and family.

She was a devoted and loving mother to Dawn (Fred) Hines and Amanda (Whitney) Case. Her grandchildren — Freddy, Evie, and Olive Hines, along with Anna, Jackson, and Abby Case — were her greatest joys. Time spent with them was precious, especially summer days by the pool where they made countless cherished memories. Sharon is also survived by her brother, Charles (Karen) Roop Jr., sister, Diane Deitsch-Bahl and a large extended family.

Family was truly Sharon’s world. She was a nurturing soul who shared her warmth and care with everyone she met. She had the house that any of her kid’s friends could come to and know she would feed them and take care of them. She worked for many years in the counselor’s office at Edgewood High School, where her kindness touched the lives of countless students and staff.

Sharon was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of Joppa’s Towne Baptist Church, where she found great comfort and community. Sharon was a firm believer in bringing people to the Lord and enjoyed prayer group. She loved gardening and keeping her flower beds bursting with color. She also had a special fondness for Disney — especially Winnie the Pooh and Tinker Bell — and enjoyed family trips filled with magic and excitement. She loved to travel, explore new places, and embrace life’s experiences to the fullest.
