Saundra “Sunnye” Louise Warner, 85, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born on August 9, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland, she lived a life marked by intellectual achievement, professional dedication, and deep affection for her friends and passions.

Sunnye was the daughter of Bernice and Edward Warner, both of whom preceded her in death. She was educated at the Institute of Notre Dame High School in Baltimore before pursuing higher education at the University of Maryland School of Radiologic Technology. Her commitment to learning continued with studies at Towson State University and culminated with a degree from the University of Maryland School of Law and passing the Maryland State Bar Exam.

Her professional life reflected her dual passions: healthcare and justice. Sunnye began her career in healthcare as Director of the University of Maryland School of Radiologic Technology, where she played a pivotal role in shaping future generations of radiologic technologists. Later, driven by a desire to serve others through the legal system, she transitioned into law and served as a public defender in both Baltimore City and Harford County. In both careers, she was known for her intelligence, dedication, and unwavering sense of purpose.

Though Sunnye never married, she formed deep and lasting friendships that enriched her life immeasurably. She was known for her generosity—always putting others before herself—and remained devoted to her friends until her final days.

After retiring from public service, Sunnye immersed herself in the world of art. She explored many different media and found joy and companionship among her beloved “art lady friends” in the Harford County art community. Her creativity flourished during this time, becoming a central part of her identity and daily life.

Sunnye also had a special place in her heart for animals. She especially cherished the companionship of her cat, Bella.

A woman of intellect, compassion, and vibrant creativity, Sunnye touched many lives through both her professional work and personal relationships. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
