Sandra Hamilton Dean, 91, of Bel Air, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in Bel Air, MD.
She was born at home in Bel Air, the only child of Roland Hamilton and Thelma Johnson Hamilton. She graduated from Bel Air High School and earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Institute Conservatory of Music.
Mrs. Dean began her career as a music teacher at Bel Air Elementary School on Gordon Street before transitioning to giving private piano lessons, which she continued for many years. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and later Christ Church, Forest Hill, serving as Organist and Choir Director at both churches for a combined 50+ years.
In addition, she was a member of the Harford County Piano Teachers Association, the Baltimore County Piano Teachers Association, the School Concerts Committee, and the Peabody Alumni Association. She played piano for the Bel Air Rotary Club for a number of years and was a recipient of the Rotary Club Paul Harris Award for community service.
Her interests also included traveling, needlepoint and cross-stitch, cooking, and reading.
Mrs. Dean is survived by her daughter, Marylisa Price, son-in-law Bradley and granddaughter, Marissa Price, all of Bel Air. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Brice Dean, father Roland Hamilton and Mother Thelma Johnson Hamilton. Mrs. Dean and her husband, Bob, also shared seven goddaughters and one godson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4 - 6 PM at McComas Funeral Home Bel Air. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church Bel Air, with the Rev. Nathan Harpine and the Rt. Rev. Barry Yingling officiating. A private interment will be held at Christ Church, Forest Hill.
The family would like to thank caretakers Linda, Laura, Mary, Denise, Toshimi, and Jozlyn for their care and support.
