McComas
June 3, 1938 – May 11, 2026
Russell Laird McComas, age 87, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Bel Air, Maryland, he was the son of the late Russell McComas and the late Helen Mary (Laird) McComas. He was the beloved husband of Marcie Macken McComas, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.
Russell was a graduate of Bel Air High School, where he proudly played baseball for the Bobcats. He later graduated from Towson University, where he was a member of a Barber Shop Quartet. Two members of the quartet went on to sing with Fred Waring and the Metropolitan Opera. Russell received his master's degree and dedicated much of his life to education, beginning his career as a teacher before being promoted to principal and later serving as a Supervisor for the Harford County Board of Education, retiring in 1985.
A kind man with a wonderful sense of humor, Russell was devoted to his family and community. He coached baseball and softball for his children and enjoyed spending his free time golfing, fishing, and hunting.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Marcie McComas; his children, Glenn McComas, Craig McComas, and Chana McComas and her companion, Joe Neville; his grandchildren, Alexandra D'Antoni, Evan McComas, and Jackson Neville; and many loving family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Brown.
