Ronald George Thompson, Sr., age 85, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John Edward Thompson and Teresa Luella (Wertman) Thompson and the devoted husband of Faith C. (Collins) Thompson.
Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Throughout his life, family was incredibly important to him, and he treasured the time spent surrounded by those he loved. He especially enjoyed family dinners, eating out, and the many vacations and adventures he shared with his family.
An avid sports fan, Ronald faithfully cheered for the Baltimore Colts, Baltimore Orioles, and Baltimore Ravens. He and Faith also enjoyed line dancing together and traveling. Many cherished family vacations were spent in Ocean City, Maryland. Ronald and Faith also enjoyed cruising and traveling the world, including memorable trips to the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, Alaska, the Netherlands, and many other countries throughout Europe.
In addition to his wife, Faith, Ronald is survived by his children, Carol Lee (Michael) Richardson, April Michele (Jeffery) Knill, Julie Anne (Ward) Slacum, and Ronald George(Jan) Thompson, Jr.; grandchildren, Shaelyn (Michael) Elliott, Mackenzie (Ben) Wesolowski, Jacob Richardson, Savannah Knill, Gabe Knill, Brady Knill, Willow Slacum, and Ashley Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Bowen and Isla Elliott and Adam and Neveah Wesolowski.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his grandchild, Delaney Knill; brothers, John Thompson and Bill Thompson; and sisters, Dolores Downey and Alice Henry.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
