Obituary

Roger Dale Kregar, age 81, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, he was the son of the late Raymond Lee Kregar and Gladys (Gerlock) Kregar.

Roger was the beloved husband of the late Lorene Mae (Stanley) Kregar. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his grandchild, Megan Kregar; his brother, Robert Kregar; his sister, Linda Kregar; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Stanley; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Stanley, Elzy Durwood Stanley, Jerry Stanley, and Larry Stanley.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Rebecca (John) Ayre, Patricia (Brad) Atkinson, and Carolyn (the late David) Maines. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel, Jill, Chrissy, Chris (who was raised like a son), Sean, Morgan, Jackie, and Ethan; as well as 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great – great grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers in law Johnny and Wayne. And his precious companion, his Yorkie, April.

Roger was a hard-working man whose life was defined by dedication to his family and his community. After the passing of his father at a young age, he stepped up to help support his family, even leaving school early to do so. His work ethic carried through his entire life. His work ethic was unparalleled, often working long hours to ensure the comfort and security of his family.

A skilled handyman, Roger was known for his ability to fix anything, always lending a hand to family, friends, and neighbors—no one ever needed to call a tradesman when Roger was around. He was deeply involved in his church, Edgewood Assembly of God, where he helped build the church itself, as well as constructed floats and Christmas sets for church plays. Known for his presence and stature, he often portrayed a Roman soldier in church programs.

Roger’s greatest accomplishment was being a father. He taught his children to enjoy every moment life has to offer and was a constant source of love, guidance, and strength—a protector, mentor, hero, and friend. He shared a special bond with his wife, Lorene, caring for her devotedly as her companion, chauffeur, and caregiver throughout her illness.

He was known for his wonderful sense of humor, always joking and playing with his grandchildren, whom he loved to spoil with candy and snacks. Affectionately known as “Pop-Pop,” he extended that same warmth and kindness to all of the children from Mom’s daycare.

Roger will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his generous spirit, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and willingness to help others.
