Robert Wayne Whetzel, age 65, of Bel Air, Maryland, affectionately known as “Wayne”, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born in Bethesda, Maryland, he was the son of the late Katherine Louise (Starner) Berry and Robert William Whetzel.

Wayne was a graduate of Bel Air High School, Class of 1978, where he proudly played varsity basketball. After graduation, he began raising a family and later enlisted in the United States Army National Guard, where he proudly served his country. During his time in the Army, he graduated in the top 20% of the 129th Air Traffic Control Detachment, reflecting his dedication and commitment to excellence.

Wayne was a man who loved adventure and living life to the fullest. He was especially passionate about golf and cherished the time he spent with his family. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, generous heart, and willingness to help others.

He is survived by his loving children, Tina (Whetzel) Kauders and her partner Kelly of Havre de Grace, Maryland, Teresa (Whetzel) Getz and her husband Steve of Bel Air, Maryland, and Robert Whetzel II “Bob” of Bel Air, Maryland, his brother, Brian Berry of Bel Air, Maryland, sister Linda Herrington, his granddaughters, Brianna, Mykaela, and Kendall, and his great granddaughters, Emersyn and Rylee, and many other friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Maryann Whetzel.

A private Memorial Service will be held by the family at a later date.
