Robert "Bob" Alexander Wagner, age 84, of Easton, Maryland, passed away on May 26, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Robert and Helen (Alexander) Wagner and husband of Jan (Moylan) Wagner for 24 years.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Jan Wagner, his daughter Ashley Elizabeth Penater and her husband Matthew, his son Andrew Robert Wagner, grandchildren Iris Penater, Alexander Penater, Elizabeth Carol Wagner, and Robert Alexander Wagner III, as well as great-grandchildren Robert Alexander Wagner IV, Lilith Wagner, and Kellin McFalls. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Helen Livezey, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and adoring friends.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sons, Robert Alexander Wagner Jr. and Ward McLean Wagner, and his brothers, William Wagner and John Wagner.
Bob grew up in Fallston, Maryland on a 152-acre family farm, called “Osceola,” just off Pleasantville Road. Some of his fondest memories included stories about his days working the farm with his siblings, parents, and uncles. After spending his early school years at St. John the Evangelist, he attended Bel Air High School, graduating in 1958. He played varsity football at Bel Air and was the “center” of attraction of each game. He remained in contact with his classmates throughout his life.
Professionally, he spent 27 years with Sweetheart Cup as a mechanical engineer, providing his expertise to Sweetheart manufacturing plants throughout the country. He was recruited to Solo Cup in 1987 where he spent 12 years as Chief Engineer. Among his many accomplishments, Bob led the design of the fastest producing paper cup machine in the industry at the time. In 1998, he moved to the aircraft industry as Senior Design Engineer for PATS Aircraft Systems, now Aloft AeroArchitects, where he designed long-range fuel tanks for Boeing jets. He retired from PATS in 2017.
Although Bob spent the first half of his life in Harford County, he moved to the Eastern Shore in 1987. Bob fell in love with the peaceful and tranquil scenery and made the Eastern Shore his primary home for the rest of his life, with his loving wife, Jan. But no matter where Bob was, his favorite place was always with his family.
