Robert McCandless Savage, age 80, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bob was the son of the late Harold Arthur Savage and Elizabeth Kern (McCandless) Savage. He was raised in Haddonfield, New Jersey, and went on to attend Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee. Bob dedicated over 30 years of his life to his career as a teacher, impacting the lives of many students throughout his years of service.

Bob was the beloved husband of Judith Lynne (Harsh) Savage, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Stephen Savage and Jonathan (Jenelle) Savage. He was a proud grandfather to Jackson Savage and Jordyn Savage. Bob is also survived by his sister, Jane (Bill) Amme, as well as several loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Savage.

Bob spent much of his free time coaching various sports through local parks and recreation teams for his sons, including baseball, football, basketball, and soccer. He loved to travel with his family. His goal was to visit as many historic sites and national parks as possible from coast to coast. We did it!

Being a Jersey boy with Philadelphia ties, Bob was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan. He also enjoyed spending summer vacations over the years in Ocean City and Cape May, NJ.

Above all else, the most important element of Bob’s life was his family. Their welfare was his foremost goal in life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

In recent years Bob and Judy enjoyed morning walks at nearby Harford Community College (HCC). It was his favorite way to start the day.
