Hart, D.D.S.
November 19, 1928 – February 14, 2026
Dr. Robert C. Hart, D.D.S., age 97, Rocky Point, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Born in Odessa, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Odbert Harley Hart and Grace Helen (Samples) Hart. The family home was in Bomont, WV.
Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving for four years as a dentist. Following his military service, he resided in Aberdeen Maryland where he practiced dentistry for 36 years. Robert was a member of the Harford/Cecil Dental Society, where he served as past president, and was also a member of the Maryland State Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He is a former member of Bel Air Church of the Nazarene, where he faithfully served on the church board for 30 years. After retirement he moved to Wilmington, North Carolina where he attended the Hampstead Baptist Church.
In December 1950, Robert married Sydney Lee Dunn with whom he raised 3 children. Following Sydney’s death, he married his beloved wife, Sue Hart. They were married for 32 years. For hobbies, he enjoyed woodworking and took great pride in making over three hundred (300) gifts using local and exotic woods. He enjoyed gifting his creations to both family and friends. He also loved fishing and hunting and sang in a gospel quartet for many years.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Sydney Hart, his oldest son, Roger Hart; and four siblings: Juanita Rucker, Edward Hart, Aulene Samples, and Nina Crosby.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Hart; two sons, Timothy Hart and his wife Regina, David Hart and his wife Connee, Janet Hart, widow of Roger Hart, Sr, and stepsons, Kevin McCall and his partner, Heather, and Shawn McCall and his wife Karen, eleven (11) grandchildren and twenty (20) great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Bel Air Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service.
Interment will take place at Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.
