Rita C. Webster, age 87, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on January 18, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Born in Buffalo, New York, she was the cherished daughter of the late Nicolas and Filomena (Mirco) Fagnani and the devoted wife of Douglas Webster for an incredible 67 years. Rita dedicated a total of 32 years to shaping young minds, having taught in the Buffalo, New York public schools for 15 years and later retiring in 1995 from the Charlotte, North Carolina public schools, where she served as an elementary school teacher for 17 years.

 

In addition to her remarkable teaching career, Rita found joy in various pursuits, including gardening and cooking. She was affectionately known as "Super Grandma" for her boundless love and care for her family, which she held dear above all else. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her loved ones.

 

Rita is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Webster, her daughter Deborah (Raul) Olaya, and her grandchildren Alexandra (Adam) DeWeese, Michael N. Olaya, and Stephan A. Olaya. Her legacy continues through her great-granddaughter, Margot DeWeese.

 

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her sister, Elvira Carboni.

 

Visitation to celebrate Rita's life will be held under the compassionate guidance of the McComas Family Funeral Home in Bel Air, Maryland, on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Margaret Catholic Church.

 

For those who wish to make a contribution in Rita's memory, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101, in lieu of flowers.
