Richard "Richie" Robert Basilone, Sr., age 67, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away on March 12, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Richie was the beloved son of the late James and Josephine (Polcini) Basilone and a devoted husband to Kathleen “Kathy” Basilone for 45 wonderful years.

Richie had a fulfilling career as a supervisor with the Maryland Transportation Authority, retiring over 20 years ago. He had a known passion for hot rod cars, particularly Chevrolets, and he had an extensive knowledge and love for anything with a motor. Richie's friendly and outgoing nature made him a joy to be around, especially during conversations about cars, a subject he was always eager to discuss.

He was not only a dedicated worker but also a devoted family man. Richie coached his son's baseball team and served as an assistant coach for his daughters' team, always showing unwavering support and encouragement. He cherished family time and enjoyed trips to their beach house in Bethany Beach, with recent memories including a NASCAR race outing with his son, a day he treasured.

Richie's love for life extended to his culinary skills; he loved to cook and relished in sharing meals with loved ones, ranging from his pit beef stand on Bel Air Road to serving his famous home cooked meatballs. Additionally, he had a deep appreciation for air shows, often making family trips to Ocean City, Maryland, to witness thrilling performances by the Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Richie is survived by his daughter, Ashley N. Basilone; son, Richard "R.J." Basilone Jr.; daughter in law, Melanie Basilone; grandchildren, Isabella Basilone and Adalyn Basilone; brother, James Basilone Jr.; sisters-in-law, Cathy Basilone, Dianna Basilone, and Barbara Schultz; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Josephine Basilone, and his brother, Dennis Basilone. Richie's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
