On September 13, 2014 Rebecca (Becky) Davis passed away surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 31, 1934 in Princeton, West Virginia to the late Benjamin Harrison Walker and the late Willie Mae (Grubb) Walker, Becky was one of thirteen children. Becky married John H. Davis on June 1, 1956 in Middle River, Maryland. They shared many wonderful years together until he passed away on June 29, 2013.
Becky was a homemaker who loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews very much. She loved to pray for her family, friends and neighbors, making sure everyone had a Guardian Angel to carry with them always. She worked very hard holding down the fort as John often worked three or four jobs at a time supporting the family. John was a retired Maryland State Trooper, retired Warrant Officer for the Maryland National Guard and later an owner/operator of his own big rig. Becky travelled with her him across the country in his tractor trailer for many years. She enjoyed reading, watching movies and doing crossword puzzles as well as baking special treats for everyone. She was an avid Ravens, Orioles, Maryland Terps and West Virginia Mountaineers fan. Becky welcomed anyone needing a meal or a place to stay to her home. There was always enough room and enough food for one more. Some stayed for a day or two, some stayed for a few weeks and some stayed for months and all were treated as family. Becky loved spending time with her family and attending Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a member for nearly 50 years serving on the Altar Guild and preparing meals for others.
Becky joins her parents, and husband John as well as brothers, Jimmy, Joe, Ben and Robert (Corky); sisters, Ellen, Thelma, Ida Helene, Clara, Anna Lee, Mary Lou, Ethel and Violet in Heaven. The reunion they are having warms our hearts and makes us smile.
Survivors include her children, son John H. Davis II of Joppa, MD and daughters Rebecca Jo Aronowitz and husband Robert of Charlestown, MD, Dianne Duncan and husband Duane of Conowingo, MD, and Mary Bazemore and husband Douglas of Churchville, MD. Becky is also survived by David Sexton and wife Lynn of White Hall, MD and Billie Merchel and husband Ted of Baltimore, MD to whom she was considered a second mother. Becky is survived by her grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Danielle, Alex (Nicole) and Jack Aronowitz, Jennifer (Rob) and Duane (Tracey) Duncan, Shelly Burmeister and husband Mark, Becca and Walker Bazemore and great-grandchildren Ryan and Dylan Burmeister and Eli Aronowitz. She is also survived by David and Todd Sexton and Tracy and Alison Merchel to whom she was loved as a grandmother. Becky is also survived by sisters in law Freddie June Walker and Hersey Kauff, dear friend Mamie Cloman and many nieces and nephews all of whom loved her dearly. We knew for sure that we were loved.
