Randi Levina Pierro, age 84, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Randi was the daughter of the late Theron Gilbert Nye and Christine (Cassell) Nye. She was the beloved wife of the late William N. Pierro.
Randi was preceded in death by her sisters, Nina Dalton, and Ruth Peaks; twin brother Rufas Nye; her stepbrothers, Jim Carter, and Don Carter; and her stepsister, Joyce Carter.
She is survived by her loving children: Barbara Follum, Michael Gardner and his wife Linda, John Gardner and his wife Kandy, and Jeff Gardner and his wife Cheryl. She was a proud grandmother to Sarah Gardner, Jason Gardner and his wife Tori, Nick Gardner and his wife Chelsea, Jade Pulliam, Rachel Pulliam, Rob Gardner, and Debbie Gardner. Randi also leaves behind three cherished great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, June Thomure.
Randi earned her bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University and her Master of Arts in Education from Villa Julie College. She began her teaching career in elementary education at Sacred Heart of Mary School in Dundalk and later in Baltimore City Public Schools. After several years in education, she transitioned to work in a hospital medical records department before returning to her passion for teaching. She completed her career teaching GED classes at Sussex County Correctional Institute.
A long-time resident of Georgetown, Delaware from 1995 to 2021, Randi enjoyed reading, walking, gardening, and hosting family during the holidays. Her warmth, intelligence, and commitment to education touched many lives and she will be dearly missed.
