QUENTIN FREDERICK HEAPS, SR. age 83, of Edgewood, died in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia, on November 16, 2002. Born in Jarrettsville, he was the son of the late Charles Wesley and Ozella Marie Richardson Heaps. He retired from Edgewood Arsenal after 30 years of service where he was a painter. He was a member of the American Legion. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II and participated in the D-Day invasion on Omaha Beach.
Mr. Heaps is survived by his wife whom he married in 1942, Thelma Aretta Darr Heaps; one son, Roy Kenneth Heaps of Roanoke, Virginia; two grandchildren, Amanda K. Benge of Forest Hill; and Jonathan D. Heaps of Roanoke, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Quentin F. Heaps, Jr.
