Phyllis Dickerson Kelly passed from here to eternity on August 11, 2026. She was an only child born July 12, 1933 at home to Frances (Thompson) and Chester Dickerson of Ellendale, Delaware.
After graduating from Milford High School, Phyllis continued her education at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware. She held secretarial positions with International Platex Corporation as well as the Export Division of L.D.Caulk’s Dental Supply Company. In 1956, Phyllis married her “first love”, Marvin Kelly of Bel Air, Maryland, who was already an Air Force career man. Together they served this country for twenty years living in numerous states all the while making unforgettable memories and establishing long-standing friendships.
As a stay-at-home mom, Phyllis always felt fortunate to prioritize motherhood by being available to her two children, Mark and Marlene. As her children grew older, she worked for Weight Watchers, Richardson’s Florist and Home Mediservice.
In their retirement years, the Kellys enjoyed the best of their favorite places dividing their time between their Maryland home and the one they owned in Green Valley, Arizona.
As a long-time member of Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland, Phyllis sang in the choir for several years and held offices in the Doll Walker Women’s Circle. In recent years the Kelly’s attended CrossRoads Community Church in Bel Air, Maryland.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by her son, Mark Kelly, and daughter, Marlene (Stephen) Adams; Grandchildren Alexander (Kira) Kelly, Kasey Kelly, Adam Kelly, Brandon (Christina) Adams, Tyler (Amy) Adams, and Mackenzie (Andrew) Scarff. Adding to “Gran’s” joy were her great-grandchildren Ellie Adams, Ephraim Adams, Sadie Adams, Talia Adams, Henry Adams, Libby Adams, Marcelene Scarff, Esther Scarff and Braxton Kelly.
A Celebration of Life has been planned for Friday August 21st at 11am preceded by an hour of visitation to be held at CrossRoads Community Church in Bel Air.
For a more lasting tribute, memorial contributions may be directed toward CrossRoads Community Church – 12 Stones Road Bel Air, Maryland 21015 – Phyllis Kelly Memorial
