Phyllis Ann Yoshida, age 70, of North East, Maryland, passed away on March 11, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Marion, Virginia, she was the daughter of Virginia and Robert Walton.
Phyllis was married to her husband for over 50 years, in which this September would have been their 53rd wedding anniversary. Phyllis dedicated her early life in staying home and raising her two children, while her husband served in the Army. Even though she struggled with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 16, she still managed to do whatever she could do for her 2 children, even leading up to her grandchildren. Nothing ever stopped her from giving them love and everything they needed. She was extremely selfless in every degree.
She worked at Bata Shoe Factory in Belcamp, Maryland when she was young and always loved to talk about how she made shoes. She was a faithful attendee at Evangel Assembly of God in Aberdeen for many years. Despite her inability to use her hands to full capacity, she was in charge of the Sunday’s attendance and even loved folding bulletins at home to do God’s work. If mom could help and do something, it would make her happy. She knew she could not do it well, but that did not stop her. She loved shopping and would shop everyday if she could. She loved her pets and loved spoiling them, she had plenty of love to spread.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Allen Yoshida, oldest son, Kenneth (Siobhan) Yoshida, daughter, Leilani (James) Rice; grandchildren, Austin “Kimo” Rice, Mason “Pono” Rice, Mailea Lani Rice, Gabriel Allen Koa Yoshida, Genevieve Keilani Yoshida, and “Hanai” grandson Julius Brown. Phyllis has many in-laws on the Yoshida side, as well as nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews in Hawaii. Phyllis had many who were non-related to her, who loved her and called her “gram”, even though they were not her own, she was very loved.
The family is honoring Phyllis’s wishes and having a private family service only. We appreciate all your love and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, we ask all cards and donations be sent to: Evangel Assembly of God, P.O. Box 159, Aberdeen, Maryland 21001.
