Phil Andaya Galima, age 78, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Born in the Philippines, Phil was the son of the late Cipriano Pestejo Galima and Flora Lardizabal (Andaya) Galima. He moved to Hawaii with the love of his life, Clarita (Haduca) Galima, where they began their life together. Married for 47 years, Phil and Clarita built a strong and loving family, rooted in deep devotion and mutual respect.
A proud veteran, Phil served honorably in the United States Army for 20 years. He enlisted with the dream of creating a better life for his family and led by example throughout his life—always strict but supportive. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and adoring grandfather who found great joy in exploring new places, working in his yard and garden, and spending time with those he loved most.
Phil had a passion for traveling both across the United States and internationally. He enjoyed watching sports and fishing with his son and could often be found outdoors or tackling handy projects around the house. One of his greatest joys was being playful and silly with his grandson—dancing, playing the ukulele, and making memories that will last forever.
Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Clarita Galima (née Haduca); his son, Michael Galima and wife Rachel Chun-Kennedy; and his grandson, Kai Galima. He is also survived by his sisters: Mila Castro, Leticia Malubay, and Erlinda Del Rosario and their families.
