Obituary

Peter Bernard Horky, age 73, of Forest Hill, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, he was the son of the late Dr. John Ralph Horky and Margaret Adelia (Sawyer) Horky. Peter was the devoted husband of Susan Rinehart-Horky, with whom he shared 28 wonderful years of marriage.

Peter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who was known for his humble nature, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to his family. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to brag about their accomplishments. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Peter especially loved being the person his grandchildren could count on to get things done. His loving, supportive nature and genuine enjoyment of life made him someone everyone loved being around.

A self-proclaimed technology enthusiast, Peter had a passion for all things tech-related and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others, especially his grandson, Dominic, in whom he fostered a love and understanding of technology. He retired in 2018 from DXI, where he worked as an IT Administrator/Engineer.

Peter believed in staying active and making the most of each day. He enjoyed working out at the Arena Club and had a special early morning routine of meeting up with his buddies at Wawa at 4:30 a.m. before heading to the gym. He loved spending time outdoors, whether kayaking with his children and grandchildren, riding his motorcycle, fishing, or enjoying a relaxing day at the beach.

He also appreciated life's simpler pleasures, including watching old movies with his family and making trips to the store to "pick things up" for his wife. Whether he was helping someone with a project, sharing a laugh, or simply spending time with those he loved, Peter found happiness in being there for others. His kindness, humility, and devotion to his family will be remembered by all who knew him. His favorite holiday was Christmas. He loved to buy, wrap and give gifts. Christmas Day was an all day family affair.

In addition to his beloved wife, Susan Rinehart-Horky, Peter is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Livingston and her husband, David, and Rebecca Rinehart; his sons, John Aaron Horky and his significant other, Katelin, and Adam Horky and his wife, Leilia; his grandchildren, Ryley Livingston, Tristan Livingston, Dominic Rinehart, Christopher Hurline, Kent Horky, Presley Horky, Andy Horky, and Lacey Mentzer; his sisters, Joanne Rice, Diane Dixon, Josephine Wheeler, Mary McLean, Paula Ennis, Alecia Horky, and Donna Kitchen; and his brother, Ralph Horky.

In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his son, Steven Horky, and his sister, Cecilia Brody.

Peter will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will forever cherish his loving spirit, his willingness to help others, and the countless memories they shared. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and unconditional love will live on through the family he treasured so dearly.
