Pete Hooper, 83, of Edgewood, MD passed away on January 10, 2014 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Emmorton, he was the son of the late John G. and Bessie Lee League Hooper. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he worked several government jobs ending his career as a Patrol Boat Captain. After retiring from APG in 1985, he drove a bus for the county for 10 years. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and Presbury United Methodist Church.
Pete coached little league baseball in Edgewood for many years. He loved hunting, boating, and tinkering with cars. At the time of his death he owned a 1932 Ford pick-up. His greatest joy, however, was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary B. Hooper; sons, Pete Hooper Jr. and wife, De, of Leesburg, FL, Larry William Hooper and wife, Pam, of Fallston and John L. Hooper and wife, Aileen, of Forest Hill; daughter, Robin S. Peterson of Darlington; sister, Lucille Barber of Aberdeen; four grandchildren, Chris, Julie, Jason and Brandon; two great granddaughters, Lindsey and Macy; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Shirley and J.B. Billings of Edgewood and Glenn and Betty Thompson of Leesburg, FL.
