Pauline Battista Krementz passed away peacefully on Sunday January 28, 2024, at Christiana Care in Newark, DE.
Born in Yonkers, New York Pauline grew up the middle child of Sam and Clara Battista. The family moved to Brooklyn, NY where she met and married the love of her life Leon Robert Krementz. Sailing, traveling and dancing happily together for 66 years until his passing on the 14th of January 2024.
Pauline was a devoted mother to her two children Leon Robert Krementz, Jr (deceased) and Pauline Krementz Wheeler, a remarkable grandmother to Jessica Wheeler Hicks and a truly joyful great grandmother to Connor Andrew Hicks.
A teacher at heart Pauline administered love and compassion to the students of Smithtown Elementary when they needed it most as the Health Office Administrative Assistant for 25 years, teaching over and over about the healing powers of smile and a hug.
Pauline relocated in 1998 to Maryland to be closer to her granddaughter Jessica, forming an enduring bond of love, spending countless hours making each other laugh and smile.
She was an amazing artist mastering crafts from wood carving to ballroom dancing, her baking skills were legendary, but her greatest skill was the art of friendship. Pauline cultivated friends young and old naturing each relationship with tenderness, warmth and love.
Pauline is survived by her daughter Pauline Krementz Wheeler, (William Wheeler) Granddaughter Jessica Wheeler Hicks (Andrew Hicks) and Great Grandson Connor Andrew Hicks and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
