Orest Zubal, age 85, of Forest Hill, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Born in Pashitchna, Ukraine, he was the son of the late Stefan Zubal and Maria (Hrykiw) Zubal.
Orest immigrated to Lorain, Ohio, in the United States with his family at the age of eight, beginning a life marked by hard work, dedication, and quiet strength. He attended Ohio State University, where he earned his degree in Aeronautical Engineering. A highly intelligent and accomplished man, Orest built a successful career working at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), where he dedicated many years of service.
It was during his college years that, at a mixer, he met the love of his life, Cecelia Ann (Wszolek) Zubal. The two shared a devoted marriage for many years until her passing. Together, they built a loving home and family.
Orest was known for his quiet and humble nature, though those closest to him cherished his wonderful sense of humor. He found joy in simple pleasures, especially tending to his garden, watching old movies and musicals, and spending time with his family. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a devoted member of the Byzantine Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving children, Stefan Zubal and Irenna Zubal; and his brother, George Zubal.
Orest will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, whose intelligence, humility, and quiet kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
