Bel Air

Norma Jean Moore, age 75, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2024.  She was in the company of her beloved family at the time of her death.   Jean was born in Bel Air, Maryland and was the daughter of the late Herman and Mildred Ayres of Street, Maryland.

She was married to Charles Andrew “Andy” Moore on October 1, 1965.  They experienced a loving and fulfilling marriage over the entire course of their lives.

Jean was best known for her enormous love of family.   She also loved gardening, home decoration, flowers, and the beach. Jean was forever caring for her family, performing housekeeping chores, overseeing bookwork, and even performing field work for the family contracting business when needed.  She was an incredibly hard-working and energetic woman.  She was always on the move and never afraid to get her hands dirty while working beside her husband and family.

Jean is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Andrew “Andy” Moore, sons Charles Andrew “Chuck” Moore Jr., Brian “Keith” Moore, grandchildren, Charles “Andrew” Moore III, Nathaniel Thomas “Nathan” Moore, and Lilleen Anne “Lilly” Moore.  Jean is also survived by brothers Robert Ayres, Donald Ayres, Ronald Ayres and sister Linda DiCocco.  Jean also developed a special relationship with Ms. Jennifer Redding, loving and caring companion of Chuck Moore.  She rarely left Jean’s side during her period of illness.

Jean’s family is incredibly thankful for the tremendous support, outreach, condolences, etc., from family, friends, co-workers, and her caretakers. They want to communicate to all, that in true form, and as expected, Jean exhibited a fierce resolve and warrior ethos during her battle with cancer. When it was clear that the fight was lost, she faced her prognosis with courage, dignity and resolve.  They are incredibly proud of her and grieve the loss of an incredibly dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, and patriot.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
