Noble “Woody” Woodrow Hall, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Darlington, Maryland. Born in Aberdeen, Maryland, he was the son of the late Alexander Romey Hall and the late Mary Elizabeth Ruth (Quillen) Hall.
Woody was the loving and devoted husband of Evelyn Mae Hall, with whom he shared a remarkable marriage of 74 years and 10 months. Childhood sweethearts grew up as neighbors, fell in love quickly, and built a beautiful life together rooted in faith, devotion, joy, and unwavering partnership. They were truly soulmates.
A proud and nurturing father, Woody is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn; his daughters, Sharon Lee Hall, Pamela Ann (Michael) Allen, and Ramona Lynn (Stephen) Groff; his cherished grandchildren, Alexander Groff, Nathaniel Groff, and Meredith Easter; and his two great-grandchildren William and Arthur Groff. He is also survived by his loving siblings, JoAnn, Richard, Betty, and Dorothy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Hall and Mary Elizabeth Hall, as well as his beloved siblings Emma, Clarence, Wilma, Donald, Rosemarie, and John.
Woody was known throughout his community as a strong, nurturing, protective, and intelligent man who touched countless lives with his warmth and generosity. Family was his greatest joy, and he was devoted to caring for those he loved. His daughters affectionately describe him as the ultimate “girl’s daddy”—a protector, provider, problem-solver, and source of steadfast support. There was nothing he would not do for his family, and his love for them was boundless.
He was extremely well known in the community; no matter where he went, someone always seemed to know him. He made friends easily and was beloved by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Woody worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) and retired after 37 years of dedicated service. In his youth, he was a talented athlete who played football, ran track, and participated in many other sports. He proudly ran for both Bel Air High School and Dublin High School.
Deeply devoted to his faith, Woody passed his love of God on to his daughters and grandchildren, instilling in them the values that shaped his life. He was an honorable man—loving, humorous, protective, and unwaveringly devoted to those he cherished.
Woody loved to travel and, alongside his wife, visited over 49 states and many destinations overseas. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, and exploring new places with the woman he loved.
Above all, Woody’s life was defined by love—love for God, for his family, and for the countless people whose lives he brightened just by being himself.
His legacy of devotion, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Bicycle!
