Obituary

N. Faye Shetterly, age 89, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully on February 28, 2026, at her home.

Born in Briceville Tennessee, Faye was the daughter of the late Roy Lee Taylor and Willie Cleo (Hill) Taylor. She was the devoted wife of the late Ray L. Shetterly Sr., with whom she shared a loving marriage of 61 years, built on faith, family, and unwavering devotion.

Faye was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother—and friend to many others of all generations. She had a deep love and conviction for her Christian faith and was a faithful member of Mountain Christian Church. A true people person and a huge hugger. Faye never met a stranger, and cherished her many friendships, introducing herself as “Grandmommy” or “Aunt Faye” to everyone she met.

After her retirement as a Lab Technician at Franklin Square Hospital, she enjoyed a long, happy, and active retirement. She enjoyed sports of all kinds, and especially loved supporting her grandkids, and their friends (as if they were her own grandchildren, too) at activities and events. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles and her Rocky Top Tennessee Vols. Above all, she loved her beloved husband and her sons, and she treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. With her downtime, she loved all homebody activities such as sewing, puzzling, cooking and baking, gardening, and watching TV.

Faye is survived by her two loving and devoted sons, Ray Shetterly Jr. and his wife Lorna; Kevin Shetterly and his wife Judi, 7 grandchildren whom she loved and cherished dearly, Ryan Shetterly and his wife Michele, Julie Shetterly and her wife Clare, Adam Shetterly and his fiancée Amber, Amanda Shetterly and her fiancé Luke, Chad Shetterly and his fiancée Noelia, Aaron Shetterly, and Rachel Leubecker and her husband Caleb; 6 great-grandchildren whom she absolutely adored, Alainna, Kobe, Walter, Emily, Roman, and Lincoln; and her dear brother, Walter Taylor.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was proceeded in death by her brothers Johnny, JE (James Ernest), Herman, Norris, Lee Mac, and sisters Mildred, Mary, and Dossie Taylor.
