Monserrate R. Ortiz

MONSERRATE R. ORTIZ, 80, of Joppatowne died at John Hopkins Hospital on October 1, 2003. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Bienvenido Rivera Valentin and the late Micaela Velez Balague Rivera and the wife of the late Pedro Ortiz. She was a mother to many. She was giving, even when she did not have it to give. She had a strong faith in Christ and made friends everywhere. She resided with her son in Miami for six months of the year and with her daughter in Joppatowne for the other six months of the year.

Mrs. Ortiz is survived by three sons, Peter Ortiz of Miami, Florida, Benjamin Ortiz of Sunrise, Florida and Jorge Ortiz of Coral Springs, Florida; a daughter, Victoria Bjork of Joppatowne; a host of adopted children; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
