Millicent P. Chernich

March 16, 1939 — December 22, 2025

Millicent Patricia Chernich, age 86, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, in Brooklyn, Maryland.

Millicent was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to the late Irene Isabelle (Smith) Bruder and Earl Franklin Bruder.

Millicent was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Aelyn Weiksner. She was also predeceased by a brother and a sister many years ago.

She is survived by her loving children: Stephanie Ryan and her husband Michael, Cindy Heil and her spouse Kristyn, and Scott Chernich and his wife Kim. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Rachel Ryan Weiksner (Erik), Tim Ryan (Parastoo), Matt Ryan(Madison), Alex Heil (Kerry), Kelsey Heil (Ryan), Lorenna Chernich, and Clayton “Clay” Chernich; and her adored great-grandchildren: Adelaide Weiksner, Maya Heil, and Mila Fromm.

Family always came first for Millicent. She loved to read and, in her younger years, enjoyed socializing with friends and traveling with them. She loved to dance and was always on the dance floor at weddings and parties. She especially treasured watching Baltimore Ravens football with her daughter and son-in-law. Millicent also loved gardening when she was younger and took great joy in preparing special meals for her family. Holidays were particularly dear to her, as she much appreciated having her loved ones gathered to celebrate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Millicent’s name to Shifting Gears, Inc., a non-profit organization that supports young people with their foster care experience as they build skills, confidence, and independence while transitioning out of foster care without permanency.
