Mildred Virginia Wyatt

April 4, 1928 — July 11, 2025

Forest Hill

Mildred Virginia Wyatt, age 97, of Forest Hill, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025. Born in Smooth, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. Walkup and Nanny Daisy (Carney) Crane and the beloved wife of the late James Fred Wyatt.

Mildred was a devoted pastor’s wife for over 60 years, sharing in a life of ministry and compassion. She had a deep love for caring for others and operated a licensed in-home daycare for more than 30 years, lovingly nurturing many children, many of whom continued to stay in touch with her throughout her life. She dedicated much of her time to visiting the elderly and sick and always placed others before herself, constantly concerned for the well-being of family, friends, and neighbors.

Family was everything to Mildred. Her home was the heart of weekly Sunday dinners after church, where laughter and love were shared among generations. She cherished time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and found joy in every visit. She was also blessed with amazing neighbors who treated her like family and held a special place in her heart.

Mildred is survived by her loving daughters: Patricia (John) Ruger, Darlene (Dale) Blevins, and Vickey Shatley (late husband Doug). She was a cherished grandmother to Denise (Irving) Truslow, , Diana (Steven) Hubley, Dorine (Bryan) Chew, Doug (Tonya) Shatley, Dana Blevins, David (Becky) Shatley, Alisha (Darrin) Jobe, and Matthew Shatley. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great pride and happiness to her life.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Lenore Walkup, Tula Aye, Raymond Walkup, Mescale Goodman, Garland Walkup, Homer Hanson, Nannie Kenney, Theodore Hanson, Charlie Hanson, and Mary Knopp.
